Welcome to the Heartland Apicultural Society. Since 2001 HAS has conducted annual meetings designed to bring beekeepers together for education, skill development, and fun!


Plan to attend the 13th annual HAS conference, July 10-12, 2014, at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. This conference is open to everyone interested in beekeeping, including beginners. Regional & natonal vendors, as well as experts in the field of beekeeping, will be present.

Classes include: Pesticides in the Hive, Quality Queens, Queen Rearing (larger class for 2014!), Making Splits and Nucs, Hive Inspections, Honey House Construction, Sustainable Beekeeping, Establishing an Online Presence, and more!

Featured speakers include: Joe Kovaleski, Larry Connor, Zach Huang, Stu Jacobson, Reed Johnson, Krispn Given, Tony Prettyman, Juliana Rangel-Posada, Barry Richards, Jennifer Tsuruda, Dwight Wells, Kent Williams, Michael Wilson

HAS 2014 pre-registration is now closed (deadline: June 14, 2014). Interested attendees may register at the registration desk on the mornings of Thursday – Saturday (
July 10-12) beginning at 7:30 a.m.  Registration rates are $40 per day or $100 for all three days.  Children under age 12 registration is free.  We look forward to seeing you all in Carbondale!
