Ulee‘s Gold starring Pete Fonda (rated R). Ulee‘s Gold is a 1997 American drama film written and directed by Victor Nuñez and starring Peter Fonda in the title role. The film was the “Centerpiece Premiere” at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. Fonda won a Golden Globe for his performance and was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

The film’s title refers most concretely to the honey Ulee produces as a beekeeper, particularly that made from the nectar of the tupelo tree.

Thursday, July 12:
Brews & Bees
$30 per person (price is the same for adults/children)
5:00 pm – 9:00 p.m.

Travel by bus to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery; visit the stables which house the world-renown Clydesdales, tour the Historic Brewhouse & Beechwood Aging Cellars, then proceed to the Outdoor Biergarten and enjoy a complimentary beer and a Bier Bundle Buffet dinner before taking a bus back to Washington University Campus.

Since its founding in 1852, Anheuser-Busch has honored its historic brewing methods. Anheuser Busch is located in the historic Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis.

The largest and oldest brewery site was selected based on its access to the Mississippi River, the large presence of German immigrants in the 1800’s, and the natural cave formations that were used to store beer prior to artificial refrigeration.

Zoo Bees
$30 per person (Price is the same for adults/children)
6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Travel by bus from Washington University campus to Saint Louis Zoo for a buffet dinner, zoo grounds train ride, special tour of the insectarium, Jungle Boogie Band and bus ride back to Washington University campus.

Recently voted Best Zoo, the Saint Louis Zoo cares for 16,000+ animals, many of them rare and endangered. The Zoo is renowned for innovative approaches to animal management, wildlife conservation, research and education. Some 3 million visitors stop in every year to visit the 90 acres of animal exhibits, attractions, shopping and dining.
